Making the whole improvement process visible will add the level of accountability needed to keep it alive and show people that their concerns and ideas are valued. Nothing needs to be hidden if the issues are being addressed.
To create your own visual management board you could convert a large white board or cork board in an area that can be seen by all staff and even consumers into a visual management board.
